For a lot of us, real estate is the gateway to financial freedom. But trying to close a deal while you’re still working a 9-5 can be a struggle! If you’re just getting started and you’re trying to replace your income, you need to hear Dennis Fassett’s story. Dennis is a successful investor with a family and a full-time job. He’s going to teach you exactly how you can bring home the bacon even with limited time and resources, plus why he chooses to keep his day job.

Dennis’ Snapshot:

“Real Estate Marketer” in the Metro Detroit, MI market + 4 other markets.
Got his start in real estate just before the economy crashed.
Direct Mail + Carrot are his two main lead sources.
He has 4 business partners that he “farms” leads out to.
He generated 77 Deals in 2018.

About a year ago, we connected with a new member here at Carrot, and he's one of the most passionate, action-taking, just hustlers, that you'll find out there.

I was so impressed. He joined Carrot a week or two later. He was up here in Oregon at our Carrot HQ for the very first CarrotCamp, and it was just really, really amazing, and I was crazy impressed seeing what he had been doing in Dallas, Texas, as a solo operator, using some crazy, crazy, creative marketing.

You're going to be hearing about some of that marketing here on this call, but that's not the end story.

When I was down in Dallas a few months ago, I met him and his two business partners, and since the time I'd first met him, about a year ago, he formed a partnership with two other local investors.

Since then, they've really scaled up their business in a big way, and they've done it by carving out a niche to where they can close deals that most other investors in their market can't.

They have other investors sending them deals all the time that say, "Hey, we can't figure out how to make this a deal," and they make them deals.

There's one deal that he talks about on this podcast where the person was going through foreclosure. He was able to help save the house. They stayed in the house, and he gave them money, $20 grand or whatever it was, for her daughter's wedding, and not just that, they're going to end up making a really, really, really big payday at the end of this because they are creative with their deals.

That was the deal that everyone else looked at and said, "There's nothing here," and he turned it into a $30,000+ payday and helped the seller in a big way, and that seller's just eternally grateful.

I want to introduce you to Tang Nguyen and his business partners with The Odd Brothers, Fred and Eric. Two amazing dudes, as well, and listen to their story. Be inspired by how they saw collaboration, not competition, with other people in their market. See how they're being creative and thinking about deals in different ways.

When entering a tighter market, you need to be more creative with your deals. You need to find ways to collaborate with other investors, not be competing with them, and shift that mindset, you all.

This is a collaborative industry. When you look at your competition as competition and not as a collaboration, that's when it gets really, really hard. That's when you're out on an island by yourself.

They get emails and text messages every single day from local wholesalers and flippers who say, "Man, I've got this deal. I don't know how to structure it. Is this something you can handle?"

Introducing Tang Nguyen, Fred, and Eric from The Odd Brothers, and an amazing, amazing story. Dive in.

I'm crazy excited about today's guest. Let me introduce you to Tyler Ford because his story is exactly why we do what do here at Carrot.

People ask us why we do what we do. It's not for the lead generation side of things.

That's what we do.

That's how we help our clients crush it and grow predictable, consistent, profitable businesses. They finally have freedom, flexibility, finances, and can make an impact. That's why we do it. That's what we do.

Why we do it is exactly Tyler's story. He's gonna walk through how he was ... he's been in real estate for 20 years, and he was about to give up his entire business January of 2017, and he made one change that he's gonna be talking about on the episode of the CarrotCast that made 2018 the best start to his real estate career he's ever had, the happiest he's ever been in his business, and he's also growing and growing his businesses.

It's still just him and his wife flipping but he's growing his agent business and he's insanely happy. He's gaining momentum, and every one of us wants momentum.

As entrepreneurs, momentum is so, so important. When you don't have it, you can feel it. You're down, you're out, you're getting stressed, you're tired. You just don't feel like you're doing the right things. When you have it, nothing can go wrong and that's where Tyler is right now.

So, if you guys wanna know how he unlocked that momentum, and how he went from almost giving up his 20-year real estate business January of 2017 to now, completely shifted, happy, most profitable as ever, he's gonna tell you.

But first, he mentions a couple episodes of the CarrotCast in here that changed his life, and some of these things were some of those pivotal points for him that changed his mindset, that got him thinking in a different way.

So, key into those podcast episodes.

One of them is my Five Non-Negotiables episode. We've actually done this one twice, go back in the archives in iTunes or on CarrotCast.com. Find that one about my five non-negotiables.

That one changed my life and Tyler mentioned it changed his life as well.

There are a couple other resources in there, too. I want you to go to oncarrot.com/Tyler, T-Y-L-E-R, and you're gonna be able to go to this episode if you're listening to it on iTunes or watching it on YouTube, and you're gonna be able to download Tyler's formula that he developed in conjunction with our formula during 2017 that helped him get that momentum.

So, this is basically a process of formula that you can follow if you're in a spot in your business to where you're not having as much fun as you wanna have or it's not as profitable as you wanna have it.

You might even be thinking about giving up, or you don't have the momentum. This formula Tyler walks through is exactly how you can get it.

Without further ado, let's welcome in Tyler Ford.

Catch us live every Thursday at 1 PM PST on Facebook or Carrot.com/ask

06:00 The first question to ask before you decide to grow your business. Ask yourself WHY. Define success for yourself.

08:00 “When motivation fades, discipline starts to carry.” Define your non-negotiables.

09:00 Setting goals is easy. “The future is never a solution to the present.”

11:00 #1 The biggest challenges of scaling a business: Exposing weaknesses, Frustrating communication, Disrupting process, and Magnifying risk.

13:00 “Your job is to solve problems. We are a company full of problem-solvers.”

15:00 Your vision should be a simple promise and a contract with yourself. You have to stay in touch with your promise throughout the years.

16:00 Your customers are your best consultants. “The best way to build a brand is by making and keeping promises.”

17:00 “What marketing channels do I use to upscale my wholesale business? Facebook, Adwords, direct marketing?” Start with SEO, then Google Ads, then Facebook.

20:00 Sometimes people get so siloed in what they do that they lose sight of the overall vision of the company. “Nobody is too good to do anything.”

22:00 #2 Stress Management: Did you know that stress physically changes your brain and increases your perception of threats? Simply being aware of this is key to managing your stress. Assume the best in one another.

24:00 #3 Patterns and Processes: As time marches on, it is natural

28:00 Perfect data doesn’t exist. Everything you do won’t be a home-run. You’ve got to be willing to disrupt your own process.

29:30 “How would I teach this?” Take time to document processes as you build your company

33:00 Business isn’t life. “Growth for the sake of growth very rarely leads to long-term satisfaction” Pick great business partners.

EP 156: [Republish!] What’s Your Credibility Score? The Top 5% Of Earners Are Doing These “Simple” Things To Build More Credibility In A Cluttered Market w/ Trevor Mauch

In markets, with little competition, the product and the offering are often the most important factor that a prospect uses to decide what company to work with. But in a cluttered market, with lots of competition, like today’s real estate world… credibility has grown to trump “product” as the main decision factor that can make or break your next deal.

So, what are the top 5% of real estate investors and agents doing to build more credibility in the market to make their competition irrelevant while their competition tries tactic after tactic to catch up?

Trevor dives into specific examples and lays out his “Credibility Score” theory to help you determine what you should fix asap to build your credibility even more.

I’ve never had a real job. I’ve spent my entire adult life building businesses, but not ones that made me happy. Like a lot of entrepreneurs, 80% of the work I was doing was draining my energy, until one day I decided I couldn’t take it anymore... I quit everything. Are agents and investors in danger of becoming obsolete? The answer depends on IF you’re executing this one thing in your business right now. On my way back from a real estate agents mastermind in Beverly Hills, I was stuck on this question, in a world where we increasingly rely less on human interaction and more on artificial intelligence and automation. So, I looked to the past for answers, specifically, the Stock Market Crash of 1987, when I had an epiphany... you’re going to want to hear this.

Find out how to get people to like you, trust you, deliver better results,

how to win over any of your skeptics,

and how Agents can become the ‘digital mayor’ of your town.

On this episode of the Carrot Cast, I invited a guest on named John Martinez. John is probably ... Not probably. He is the leading sales trainer in the real estate investing industry. I had a chance to meet him in person finally after following him for quite some time down in Dallas at a mastermind, at the Investor Fuel Mastermind that we're a part of. John blew me away at his presentation down there. I really loved kind of the role-playing that he did up on stage, talking through the way that high achieving and high performing real estate investors negotiate and discuss the transaction with sellers.

What we're going to do is you're going to learn a lot about John's story, but then about 10, 15 minutes in, we're going to dive in knee deep on role-playing, and basically walking you through every step of the way, all the way from hopping on the call, to meeting the seller in person first, what you say, how you prepare them, how you set expectations, exactly word for word what to say. This stuff is pretty darn amazing.

Now, the cool thing about this is this call isn't just, hey, jot this script down, because that's not it at all. What John teaches you is the fundamentals behind why these work, so now you can be empowered to go out there as someone who understands psychology and understands how to actually really, truly serve your sellers and your prospects, all right?

I want you to completely shift and transcend your current mindset on how you're currently talking with sellers.

I thought I had it all figured out. I was making over 100k a year as my own boss. But I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t who I wanted to become - the best version of myself. I was Insecure. I was afraid of failing. I knew there was something more and I was going to do whatever it took to take the leap of faith, even if it meant walking away from everything I’d built. It was time to chase my vision. It was time to take a risk, conquer my fears, my insecurities, and forget about what other people think. It was time to go down, so I could go up.

THE CONVERSATION:

2:18  - I was miserable… It was 2010 and I’d hit a financial low of making just 16k a year. Something had to change. I knew there was more. More purpose, more happiness, more purpose. I had to transform.

4:48 - Why risks and sacrifices, and ultimately facing your fears must come before success: A tree, a seed, and a bird.

6:57 - 15 20 years later fully grown - a bird makes a home. Producing fruit and purpose. Momma bird raising the babies. Baby wants to fly, has to stand on the edge of the nest and jump off. Innate drive to fly and succeed

10:03 - I finally had a breakthrough and netted 15k in one day! At the time I thought I had it all figured out. But I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t where I wanted to be. I had to take a leap of faith and figure out how to make money while being happy, having purpose, and adding value.

12:15 - I’m someone who doesn’t ask for help. I tried to leave it all up to myself and do it alone. I had to get over that. I had to shed my shell, get transparent, and get over my insecurities.

15:04 - “I’ve got a plan” Why any time someone criticizes you for following your own dreams, they’re speaking to their own insecurities or inabilities.

19:35 - Ego was one of my biggest obstacles. I had to conquer that too.

20:56 - I want to give you permission to take a step back, to forget what other people might think, and take a step down, so you can grow up. Let me walk you through writing down your “shells” aka what’s holding you back. What do you need to conquer?

23:39 - Now write down your vision - the seed, water, and the tree. Does it get you insanely excited? Does it give you the energy you need to become your best self?

24:55 - Finding your purpose.

We all have bad days. Stuck in a funk, bummed out, just not feeling it... this was me last week. But, I realized something needed to change. I needed to deal with my ANTS - Automatic Negative Thoughts. This episode isn’t about real estate, ya’ll. This is about how to be happy, how to amplify others and how to show up every day giving your absolute best. I’m going to share with you how I went from being reactive to being proactive, took control over my thoughts, flipped the switch, and regained my momentum.

THE CONVERSATION:

2:49 - Recognizing that you're in a funk.
6:53 - If you’re like me - ambitious, but low on willpower, you might need habit triggers.
9:35 - What are ANTS? And how do our thoughts affect how we feel physically? We can do everything to make sure we show up our best every day, but sometimes forget to care of our minds.
11:07 - PANTS: Positive, Aspirational, New Thoughts Inject positivity into your brain! "This is easy!" "I can do this forever" "My energy is high!"
15:03 - Stop letting the negativity around you weigh you down. Use your energy for positivity, add value, add growth, and get excited about what you're doing!
16:37 - Own your thoughts with affirmations for specific situations and tell your thoughts where to go.
22:32 - Future pace: Be grateful for what you have in the moment and have a vision for where you are heading.
28:32 - Create a culture of energy within your business. Become a power plant for energy. What companies like Dutch Bros and Carrot are doing in rural America to make an impact on millions of people.
33:20 - Wrapping it up… We’re launching ASK CARROT! A weekly Live Q&A with Trevor. Head over to Carrot.com/ask or YouTube.com/InvestorCarrot starting February 14th at 1 PM PST to ask him anything!

Meet Troy. Troy is a 10-year real estate investor, so he kind of knows his stuff. One day while driving to work, Troy thought “I’m not getting any leads through my Carrot website, I think I’m just going to cancel.” But Troy’s not a quitter, so he decided “Ya know what, I actually like making money. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.” So Troy started ramping up his marketing through PPC and got some help from the Carrot folks. It turns out his work paid off… Troy made over $50k last month by closing 4 deals he got through his site. Now Troy is getting results. Now Troy is ramping up his business. Now Troy is happy! Here’s how he did it...

2:29 - Troy's started out 10 years ago as a real estate investor and house flipper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Right now, he’s averaging about 8-10k per PPC deal and closing roughly every 1 in 5-10 leads. Get in touch with the PPC experts he used HERE.

8:41 - What one thing is costing you the most money?  Lack of follow-up with your leads. Consistent follow up is key to closing your deals. Sometime we think we’re bugging people by calling, texting, and emailing him. Without his persistency through 8-10 phone calls, Troy would’ve missed out on $30k from someone who wanted to sell their house.

13:12 - How he plan to ramp up his marketing this next year. Doubling down in online, optimizing his website, and committing to larger direct mail campaigns.

17:32 - How much can you afford to spend per deal? Figure out your max cost per lead and max cost per deal with this calculation: https://oncarrot.com/blog/max-cost-per-lead/

18:16 - When something is not working, make a mindset shift and ask yourself "Have I truly given this a real chance?" Troy knew his time could be better spent on getting deals done so instead of going the DIY route with his website and marketing, he outsourced it and hired experts, and switched to Carrot’s advanced marketer plan.

21:15 -Suggestions for success from a carrot customer. Commit to finding a way to drive traffic to to your website. There’s a reason why we repeat ourselves at Carrot… the model works! Implement and educate, implement and educate.

I invited my mentor and close friend Seth Buechley out to my house this past weekend to talk about what we’re learning on our journeys as entrepreneurs, some of the growing pains with scaling Carrot (#599 on the Inc 500/5000 & Oregon’s fastest growing software company) and what we’re doing in order to lead our teams well and continue building valuable businesses. Seth has sold multiple companies worth hundreds of millions of dollars, is the CEO of Cathedral Consulting, and the host of the Business Done Right podcast.

3:36 - Once you have a vision for your future, your dreams will begin to materialize quicker. Think long term for your family and your business - create a life list! Where do you want to wake up in 5, 10, 25, 50 years? The life I was living as a serial-entrepreneur and freelancer actually wasn’t the life I wanted.

7:27 - If you’re like most entrepreneurs, you tend to “cycle” every 3-5 years or so and get bored or distracted by the next big thing. We need to practice patience and persistence and focus on what resources that we have right in front of us in order to be successful. Become an expert in one thing before branching out and focus on niching down in your industry.

15:59 - Make yourself “less relevant”. Being a great leader sometimes means taking a step back and empowering your team to step in. Learn how Trevor has created systems and processes that have allowed him to gain more freedom and flexibility, while still being the voice of the brand.

23:31 - Leaders must make tough decisions. When we avoid them, we put the successes of our business, our team, and ourselves at risk. Hear why turnover is a sign of a healthy culture... to a certain point.

28:17 - What’s the difference between transactional leadership and transformational leadership? Transactional leadership worked for Trevor until Carrot hit around the $1 million revenue mark. It’s reacting and delegating. It’s creating basic processes for how to complete tasks. Transformational leadership is empowering and unleashing your team, ultimately freeing you up from small tasks. It’s done by asking “What’s the outcome we're looking for? and What’s the way we measure success? And “What’s blocking you?” Write down where they're blocked and invest in the time to train them on decision making - design a process that guides them through the right questions to ask.

46:20 - I used to say I wasn’t a morning person. A habit tracker is the key tool that helped me change that.... and I’ve never even been good at habits!

52.34 - Accountability is misconstrued. You can create it for yourself through social pressure, measurements, and honesty. Habits that get you thinking about things differently.

Are you prepared for the changes up ahead? Investors, are you positioning yourself as the leader in your market? The housing market tends to shift every 8-10 years and we’re already starting to see more change in 2019 than in the last 3-5 years. Last week, we gathered 12 top-earning real estate investors from around the country for a 2-day long live Market Leader Summit to find out what they’re doing to thrive. Here’s what we learned...

03:19 - Where the market is heading? Experts don't predict a crash in 2019, but slower growth is anticipated and high-end markets will start to decline.

09:46 - Trends for real estate agents in 2019. Increasing time on market and more price appreciation, as growth starts to slow down.

11:59 - What about house flipping in 2019? With higher competition, slower closings and selective buyers, house flippers won’t be able to get away with as many mistakes in 2019. If you want to keep closing deals, you’re going to have to tighten up standards and pay attention to the details. Don't underestimate fix-up costs and consider increasing repair expenses to compete in a more competitive market.

21:43 - With new iBuyer programs from Keller Williams and Coldwell Banker homebuyers will other options over real estate agents. I believe this could be a good thing… as long as you’re building credibility and creating content to stand out in your markets. What are you doing in your marketing to position yourself as the only solution for buyers and sellers?

28:00 - What one thing ruins successful real estate investors? Choosing to not get creative with making deals happen. Even with consistent, predictable leads, looking at every deal and trying to fit it into a “box” can cause you to go hungry. Other Investors like Tang Nguyen will be picking up all the leads you passed up.

37:39 - Remember that every successful investor started with zero deals and zero experience. It’s time to get creative. Which method is continuing to grow and prove sustainable over time? The ONLY marketing vehicle that keeps gaining momentum and continues to get better is online. RVM, cold calling, direct mail are all cyclical marketing methods.

Often times, when we feel really overwhelmed, and are just struggling to keep up, it's probably because things are too complex. Maybe you've been trying to take more time off and get more freedom. Maybe you've tried everything, but can't quite seem to get there. The truth is, we can't grow our businesses and gain more freedom unless we simplify. On this mini CarrotCast episode I want to share with you a concept that has helped me de-clutter my life and get back more of my freedom and happiness.

02:26 - What the ceiling of complexity is and how it affects our happiness, our income, and our freedom.

03:28 - How simplification is the enemy of complexity.

05:56 - The first key to breaking through the ceiling of complexity: Process.

We're bringing you a miro-episode of the CarrotCast just in time for the new year. This is something that I'm really passionate about and I'm convicted that if you want to make those changes in your life, it needs to happen today, not tomorrow, or on New Year's Day. I wanted to get personal in this episode and share with you a couple stories so that you can understand how this mindset has completely changed not only my life, but my wife's, my kid's, and even some of our members. Listen to this quick episode and then hit me up on Instagram. I want to hear how it impacts you. It’s been a really interesting year. This is the year that I've probably had to grow the most personally. As the team grows, you really start to look at yourself and go, "Man. The main bottleneck of growth in the company is you as the CEO." If you're not growing faster than the pace of the company, then you're gonna hold the company back. So, for me, there were spots where the company was growing fast and it could grow faster but the problem was I really needed to up-level the way that I lead. So in this episode, I'm going to recap my year for 2018 and some of the lessons, the key lessons, that I learned.

One thing I've learned through years of building our incredible team at Carrot is the goals we set have the ability to motivate, inspire, and push people towards their best efforts. But, they can also do just the opposite. Huge goals can wreck our happiness, contentment, and even our employees. The question isn't whether we can achieve those goals. But, it's about winning big and winning as a team. Hear how we set goals at Carrot, so you can have the freedom, flexibility, finances, and impact in your life.

This episode of the CarrotCast has been a long time in the making. Two of our most commented episodes have been about hiring an Executive Assistant.

So it's about time that we have, the World's BEST Executive Assistant, Jen Delamotte, on the CarrotCast.

Jen has been with Carrot from the start. Actually before the start!

On this episode, we're going to dive into Jen's journey with Carrot and Trevor as she went from 5 to 10 hours per week, hopping into blog posts and some marketing tasks that she really didn't enjoy to turning into a really amazing asset and person.

We're also going to explore her thoughts on what she's not liked, liked, and sometimes struggles with while managing the day-to-day, upper-level, work of a high-quickstart CEO like Trevor is.

Carrot wouldn't be where it is today without Jen!

Hopefully, you're gearing up for the end of this year, and really starting next year with momentum. I've got a series coming up for you, over the next several months to help you plan for the next year, to really help you figure out what is on the horizon as a real estate investor, real estate agent, that I should be paying attention to.

On this episode of the CarrotCast. I dive in with my guest, Dan Schwartz to talk about automation, we're gonna be talking about how do you really gain freedom and flexibility and time-freedom from your business and with your business.

And really, how to leverage systems better to close more deals, because you need to refine your systems in 2019 to get that edge, to get that advantage. If you have leads slipping through the cracks, and you're not closing deals that you should be closing, you are going to be struggling in 2019. We want to help you crush it in 2019.

All right, so without further ado, I want to welcome on Dan Schwartz.  He owns InvestorFuse. We probably have three, four, five hundred of our member using InvestorFuse as their CRM.

It's an amazing company, an amazing product. And they're actually coming out with a completely revamped version of it, but in this call, we talk about time-freedom, how to really gain time-freedom.

A little bit about how to build a team, and also, diving into systems and specific systems.

Ask yourself...

"Hey, what would you do on a follow-up to really gain an advantage in 2019? What would you do with your systems to gain time and really build that team so they'll actually to use the systems?"

All right, enjoy this conversation with Dan Schwartz and have an amazing day!

One of our missions here at Carrot is to help you grow that freedom, grow that flexibility, increase those finances and finally make the impact that you want to make. That's really the entrepreneurial dream that we're all after, is getting that freedom, flexibility, finances, and impact.

One of the ways to do that is by what we call stacking your leads.

Stacking your leads means finding one thing that works and then stacking more things on top of that. It adds diversification. It makes it to where you can really scale better and go deeper into your market.

One of the ways that a lot of people are doing that is with cold calling.

Now, the cool thing about any kind of marketing, whether it's direct mail, cold calling, anything at all offline, radio and TV, is your website if you do it right, is actually going to help amplify all of that marketing.

Every single day whenever you're putting out that marketing, people are taking out their cellphone and they're going to the internet and they're going to research you. Your company name, the phone number on your direct mail pieces, or the phone number you're calling from, possibly your personal name and your competitors.

If you have a tight strategy and you're leveraging Carrot to rank well and then perform amazingly on mobile and convert those people into leads and build credibility, you're going to be winning more of those deals. Every single day there's tons and tons of deals are lost because people aren't focusing on the performance side of their online performance side of their offline marketing. People are dropping balls in leaky buckets everywhere when prospects are hitting the web, after seeing your online marketing ... Or after seeing your offline marketing or getting a cold call from you and you're not closing the deal on your website.

This call right here is about cold calling. Amazing, amazing clients of ours, Max Maxwell and Tony Robinson, they were at the CarrotCamp recently here in Roseburg, Oregon at Carrot HQ and they really showed how they're on their own journey to go over $100,000 a month. At that time at CarrotCamp, they were already at about $900,000 in wholesale profits, which is amazing!

The primary source for that is cold calling amplified by their Carrot website and a little bit of pay-per-click that they're doing. We said, "You know what, Max, Tony? Come into my office, let's talk about what you guys are doing in the cold calling. Let's go up a couple levels."

We're not going to get into the weeds in this call, but we're talking about what these guys are doing to pull out so many deals in their market with cold calling. What processes and what tools they use. Also, who they're hiring and how to pay them.

They dive into it fully here and they also talk about a new tool that they released, which is really, really cool, that they have been using and their students have been using.

In addition to that, we actually brought Max onto a training program that we created this last year called the Market Leaders Reveal training program. It's a 10 week, 10 person training where we walk you through the top eight to 10 clients of ours, or just some top eight to 10 clients of ours who are crushing with different types of marketing where online amplifies all of it. One of those types that Max is using, once again, is cold calling.

He dove into that process in crazy great detail. At the end of this call, I'm going to give you a link that you can go to get that training, to invest in that training. You get access to everything that Max has, including the cold calling scripts and tools he uses and all that stuff to amplify what you learn in this particular episode.

Without further ado, I'm going to introduce Max Maxwell and Tony Robinson to talk about how they do cold calling, how they're pulling out so many deals in the market with cold calling, and I'm just insanely proud of these guys and to have them as a part of the Carrot community.

Learn from them, and I'll meet you on the other side of this podcast with the link where you can access our Market Leaders Reveal training.

Enjoy and be sure to hit us up on Facebook, please give us a rating on iTunes, watch other episodes on YouTube, or read the Carrot blog and share your thoughts. We’d love to hear them!

This topic FIRES me up!

We're now about two years into the CarrotCast and we're so grateful of our audience and the impact that we've been able to provide.

This impact was touched on recently when I was talking with one of our Carrot members. There was a question during the conversation that hit me at my core...

The question of "when is enough, enough?"

We all have ambitions. We all have the drive for more. But, when does that get out of hand?

My initial goal when I first started out was to make $4k per month. But, over time, my aspirations, motivations, and standards changed.

Luckily, my path has taken me personally and Carrot on a journey to impact the lives of others.

But, there are those who what that next higher level while either losing their purpose or never having one in the first place. They get the "not good enough" disease. Whatever they have or do just isn't good enough anymore.

On this episode, I want to help cure that mindset. I want to help our audience get over the need for validation. It's time to switch that mindset to truly feel your work is making a positive difference in the lives of others.

If you're not waking up each day and feel excited and fired up to help not only your life but the lives of many, many people, then you're most likely in the enough is enough phase.

Listen in. Start enjoying and put to use the finances, freedom, and flexibility that you've worked so hard to achieve.

This topic has been on my mind lately. It’s how to go fast by slowing down.

Many times in our businesses it’s easy to miss the important things when we’re working fast and furious, but we’re actually getting behind on projections.

Instead, we need to place importance on what is going to move the needle and with clear objectives.

We need to slow down and create better strategies and plans that are going to pull the biggest levers in our business.

Where can you slow down to better serve your team or family?

Learn from what I’ve been going through the past six weeks. I’ve been going, going, going, but failed to slow down.

Slowing down will actually help you speed up when you have structure.

Enjoy and be sure to hit us up on Facebook, iTunes, YouTube, or even the Carrot blog and share your thoughts. We’d love to hear them!

What's up CarrotCast community. It is the end of a week right now as at the time I record this. I'm actually getting ready to head out to North Carolina and Tampa on Sunday for my last, last, last trips of the year for business.

It's been ... It's definitely been cramming a lot of stuff in this past month and a half, it's been all amazing stuff. Just meeting a lot of amazing people. I've talked about it in recent episodes of the CarrotCast and different masterminds and high level. I've been in boardrooms with two multi-billion dollar companies, their CEOs, different masterminds with just amazing, amazing people.

Speaking of North Carolina, the guests I've gotten today's episode of the CarrotCast, they were actually out here from their home in North Carolina. They were here at CarrotCamp and it's actually Max Maxwell and Tony Robinson. Max and Tony had been friends for ... Shoot for decades and are going way, way, way back.

I think everyone in the industry knows that Max has been kind of taking the industry by storm with his YouTube channels, podcasts, his Instagram following. He's just building a big, big, big movement. And it's cool. I love seeing what he's doing because he's just sharing what he's doing as an investor. And originally the whole aim was hey, how can I get from $20K a month to $100,000 a month? And he passed that, and here at CarrotCamp, he's talking about doing some amazing, amazing things. They're already doing crazy, crazy great things.

Anyway, we had a chance to kind of, hole away at CarrotCamp in my office, I pulled them to the side and I said, guys, everybody knows Max's journey from the past two years. Everybody knows how he was broke and how he dove in and started tackling real estate investing and really nailed Cold Calling and really nailed PPC with Carrot and is doing great. Everyone knows that story.

But, one thing that hasn't been told is the backstory before that, what happened 10 years, 20 years prior. What happened with their relationship? How did they get to know each other? And how did they support each other through the ups, through the downs?

So we sat down for this candid interview going all the way back to when they were 12 years old and they met, and through the struggles, through a jail stint, through both of them going broke at times, but opposite times through Tony making millions and then losing it all and going to jail.

It's just crazy, crazy things during the story, but the cool thing I want you to guys to notice is what made these guys who they are today.

People see the success of the past two years as instant, just overnight success, but it wasn't. It was success decades in the making and I'm insanely proud to sit down with these guys, they're making an impact, so proud to call them a Carrot customer, Carrot member, Carrot client, and I'm just pumped to be able to see them again and see the impact they're going to make on more people.

So listen in to this candid conversation with myself, Max Maxwell and Tony Robinson, his business partner, as they discuss their journey and their path that led them to where they are today.

I'm going to start a short series that will resonate with certain entrepreneurs. Those who have been at it for a year, 2, 3, 4+, just past the honeymoon phase of their businesses. This CarrotCast episode is actually pretty darn unconventional. We've never done one like this before. You may hate it, you may love it, I'm not sure.

But the reason I'm saying this is we recorded a little bit of a side conversation, Friday this last week, during the week of CarrotCamp, with my team.

There were a couple of our guys from out of town, out of state, one of them from Delaware, one of them from Philly, and a few local guys.

We were just kind of chatting. One of our Carrot Camper attendees, Beau Hollis, crushing it, does well over a hundred deals a year, he brought an amazing, amazing bottle of whiskey you could only get in Kentucky where he lives. So we cracked the bottle open, we sipped a little bit of whiskey, and we chatted for a half an hour, kind of decompressing CarrotCamp week.

We talk about business culture, company culture, the perspective from some of these employees of Carrot, from these team members, their perspective of culture, and why they joined Carrot, and how they joined, and how you can do the same thing in your own business.

What we've done here at Carrot, while it is unique to our culture, like what we've built is uniquely Carrot culture, you can build your own culture as well, and take these cues, take these tips, take the conversations from our team members, and infuse them into how you build your culture, moving forward to.

Now, with that said, the audio is a little bit weird. We weren't planning on recording a podcast at that time but I pulled out my cell phone and I literally just pointed it towards people, so my voice is definitely a little bit louder.

If this is your first episode of Carrot Cast, this is not how all of them are. This is kind of a special fun one, but hopefully you get some great information, some great content as you're listening to this episode of the CarrotCast, a special one, behind the scenes conversation in our office, end of the week of CarrotCamp, talking about culture, hiring people, joy in your work, the whole shebang. Enjoy!

On this episode of the CarrotCast, I want to talk something I was discussing with a really high-level house flipping business CEO recently. Having the energy to make people feel better and thinking "who do I need to show up for today?" It's really easy to get lost in your metrics. It's really easy to get lost in your KPI's. It's really easy to get lost in your goals.

Everyone gets lost. It's part of being motivated. It's part of being an entrepreneur. We tend to stop thinking about what and who we need to show up for right now and bury ourselves in the achievements and sorrows of our work.

If this is you, listen to this episode and start changing your mindset. Start showing up for the people you love. Start showing up to make people happy. I hope this helps and starts making a difference in your life.

Hey everybody! I've got a special guest with me today on this episode of the CarrotCast. I've known Joe McCall for years. Funny thing is, I didn't even realize it until after we recorded this, I'm going to see him four times in person in the next about 60 days at four different Masterminds. Kind of cool, and we have a chance to talk about a lot of cool stuff on here.

So the main things that you're going to be grabbing away from this Podcast. There are some really cool things we didn't even intend on diving into on the impact of Masterminds and what we've done with them and how you can even start your own the way that we have. We dive into that, we dive into wholesaling lease options. Why in this market environment, you need to be doing creative real estate because if you're not doing creative real estate in this market environment where we're at or near the top of the market, you can't keep on doing things the way you've been doing it the last one or two or three years.

We've seen Carrot customers go out of business, because they haven't shifted it off of their strategy. So are you molding your business around your solution and not changing your solution? Are you molding your business around solving the problem your clients find? One of the ways that you can do that is with wholesaling and lease options and we dive into that in pretty good detail.

Joe also dives into his process on finding the best cash buyers out there.

Without further ado, let me welcome in Joe McCall to the CarrotCast.

Enjoy and hit us up with feedback and give us a rating on iTunes.

What a crazy week! One of the worst but best. A fever, some poison oak, and a root canal forced me to take another look at my process and how I can serve the Carrot team better.

Recently I've found myself wrapped up in agendas and failing to draw the line to what I can "throw away", "hand off", and "what need to be involved in."

I've also been creating strategy systems so our team can understand what I'd like see happen without being so involved. Things that not only drain my energy, but also the team.

Most of all, I talk about flipping your risk profile and what that means to me. It can be difficult to take a risky leap from a job that is putting food on the table.

But, if you don't take a chance you're 100% guaranteed to you won't enjoy the benefits of being an entrepreneur.

Enjoy this episode. Giving a rating on iTunes and please listen to other episodes of the CarrotCast!

On this episode of the CarrotCast we welcome on entrepreneur, adventurer, and founder of Easy Pay Direct, Brad Weimert.

Brad has a similar sense of core values as we do here at Carrot. We seek out and build real relationships with people that are passionate about what they do and who they help.

He does it with a slightly different approach than most.

Learn what climbing Mt. Everest TWICE taught him about high-performance in areas of his life that otherwise (without adventure) may never have been learned. Therefore, his entrepreneurial spirit also might not be burning as hot.

Enjoy and get ready to be inspired to take on a new level of passion, commitment, and spirit.

Dan Sullivan, one of the top coaches for many entrepreneurs, defined the “Ceiling of Complexity” as, long story short, an overwhelming feeling of the company running you, rather than you running the company. It is a common challenge for quickly growing companies. Life and business just got a lot more complicated than it used to be.

You might find yourself stuck with a feeling of immense pressure. The challenges and demands of running a business tend to drain you of your personal bandwidth. So what do you do?

On this episode of the CarrotCast, we're going to discuss how to learn to manage and maintain growth. The best ways to manage the complexity of growing a business and how to replace that with simplicity.

Embrace the energy so that you are running your business or life instead of it running you.

It's human nature to love THINGS. Cars, watches, houses, boats. And, that's okay.

But on this episode of the CarrotCast I want to dive in a little deeper. How can entrepreneurs and leaders go from being successful to being significant?

We have to love the PROCESS not the thing. We need to avoid the need for validation and protection. Instead, we need to change the mindset around to loving the process.

The process of making a bigger impact on others lives. That's when we win. That's when we become SIGNIFICANT.

Every day think, "Who Do I Need To Show Up For?" That question separates ego and selfishness from compassion and love. The strong desire to really, really make a difference.

Listen to this episode as I walk through my visualization process and how I try to stay the course to make that bigger impact to change lives and generations.

Enjoy!

I'm pumped about this podcast today. One thing that I love to do and also I hear this feedback from guys all the time in iTunes reviews and the reviews everywhere else and emails and Facebook messages I get from everybody, that they love case studies. You guys love case studies. You love to hear someone else's journey, their successes, their failures, the things that they went through, the trials, the tribulations and what got them to where they are.

So I'm bringing on another one of our amazing clients, R.J. Bates with Titanium Investments, today. And R.J. is one of the top investors in Dallas, Texas, but also he's branched out into multiple markets. He's in the Hawaii market, he's in the Anchorage, Alaska market now, and one back Midwest. And we discuss his journey here and his journey, it's one that was really interesting. I found it fascinating because he's a guy who kind of found himself falling into house flipping and wholesaling.

He didn't set out to do that. He actually was a roofing contractor, hustling, selling roofs. And then one of his clients said, "Hey, can you also fix this rehab house?" And he's like, "Man, I think that's a good business opportunity." Before you know it, he's running a $2 million plus a year wholesaling and house flipping company based in Dallas, Texas, but in four different markets. You're going to hear his journey, you're going to hear his trials. You're going to hear the things that he failed on early on. You're going to hear why he has a business partner and how they work together.

And you're also going to hear what works best for him for his marketing mix. He uses online a lot. He uses Facebook a lot. He's going to talk about that, but he also breaks down the other things that are working insanely well in this cluttered market for him, even when he enters into new markets. Last, how does he enter into new markets? Because he's just one guy with a business partner in Dallas there. How is that he's entering into these new markets? Well, he talks about how he's finding his boots on the ground people, business partners in those markets and how he structures it.

Without further adieu, welcome in R.J. Bates from Titanium Investments into this podcast.

Hey y'all, this is Trevor with Carrots coming at you with another episode of the CarrotCast, and I am actually on my parents' back porch right now in Klamath Falls, Oregon at nighttime. It's 9:42 p.m. One of things that's amazing about the Oregon summers is it takes forever to get dark here. I love it. It's not light, it's definitely nighttime, but it's definitely pretty ... I'm outside reading right now still. It's pretty crazy, so 9:42 p.m. I'm looking at Venus up in the sky, and I'm thinking about this episode that you're going to be listening to right now on how darn important it is in the whole scheme of things.

My good, good friend and obviously Carrot team member, Adrian Nez, actually spurred on this episode of the CarrotCast. We were on a team call about a week or two ago as of the time we recorded this, and he said, "You know what, Trevor, I've got a podcast idea that I really want to pitch you and I think it's important." We hopped on a call, and within 15 seconds, I'm telling him, "Dude, we are doing that because that's so important."

You're going to hear some massive, massive vulnerability from Adrian himself who's going through some big hard, emotional things in his life and his marriage right now.

You're going to hear from me with some of my struggles in my marriage and some of the struggles that I'm going through. It's not struggling with our marriage per se. It's struggling that, how do I make it better? How do I serve my wife? How do I serve my kids much better than I am right now and how do I make sure to put them ahead of certain other things?

This episode is really pulling back. We're not talking about lead generation. We're not going to talk about SEO. We're not going to talk about any of that kind of stuff. We're going to talk about the stuff that's insanely important. Those people that right now you possibly might be ignoring, you possibly might be not serving.

You possibly might be looking at people that you've never met before in a Facebook group, in a BiggerPockets group, somewhere online, or even a seller or a buyer out there. You possibly might be thinking of people you've never met before that are not in your family that you're probably never going to speak with or maybe speak with once or twice, and you're thinking how can I serve them, and you're not thinking how can I serve my wife?

How can I serve my husband, how can I serve my spouse? How can I serve my significant other?

So, we're going to dive into relationships in this call. It's an insanely important topic for us entrepreneurs because ambitious people have a hard time turning it off. Ambitious people have a hard time justifying and reconciling when we need to be present. When we need to turn it off, and also what the next actions are. We're going to get insanely vulnerable.

Adrian's going to bring you up to speed on his own marriage. They've been on and off again. I've been helping him to guide him through the journey just support him as a friend, and he's going to walk through what he's going through and I hope you guys respect it. I hope you guys take some cues from it. I know I did in a big way, and also hopefully you have some introspection on where is it that you need to adjust yourself.

Adrian and I both walked through some things that are working for us to have better relationships with our spouses. I can use some big time encouragement on my end as well as we talk about later in this podcast.

All right. So we love you guys. Enjoy this podcast. Please share with someone who may be working too hard, who may be working too many hours, who may not be focusing on their spouse as much as they should. Please take it to heart. Give us a rating and review on iTunes if any of this hits you at your core.

On this episode of the CarrotCast we welcome back Brad Chandler from Express Homebuyers.

Brad and I met about 3 years ago and he recently joined us for CarrotCast 2018 Spring Edition.

We dive into the 3 Key Pivots he has made to go nationwide, ramp up to 25+ deals per month and doing more of what he loves.

These weren't small moves. They required a switch in their model from heavier stress, fix and flip model, to the fairly chaos free wholesaling model they currently have.

Listen to some of the insights Brad has about both sides of the industry and why wholesaling is where they've found the sweet spot.

There has been a lot of social media presence around grinding it out. Working 4 am to 8 pm. Glorifying the badge of honor or dishonor that I like to call the "Grind."

The grind is a mindset, not an activity that you should willingly try to sustain and promote.

If you're an entrepreneur and you're grinding all of the time, you're going to eventually break. Just like a cogwheel. If a cogwheel is constantly being overworked and under pressure, it's going to fail.

Instead, shift that thought to building a business based on hard work, people, and process.

On this episode of the CarrotCast, I'm going to talk about my personal grinding experiences and how you can escape before you regret it.

I was recently in Toronto at a Mastermind where one of the exercises was the 10-minute tactic, which is to come up with a framework and my 10-minute tactic was actually the winner. But, I had sorta a head start.

I've been using a similar framework within my quarterly tasks that I call the "energy audit".

This framework only takes about 15 minutes per quarter to fill out, but it has taken me from doing things that sucked 75% of my energy to the exact opposite. I now spend somewhere near 75 or 80% doing things that give me energy and happiness.

These are the tasks that are built around your unique abilities and build up your happiness and income.

I was recently a guest on a podcast called the Two-Brain Podcast with Chris Cooper. Chris is the go-to business mentor for gym owners and more specific, Cross-Fit.

On this episode, Chris and I discuss the "energy audit" and how to fully take advantage of frameworks that can have a major positive impact on your life and business.

On this episode of the CarrotCast, I'm going to talk about ambitions, happiness, and some lessons I've learned that can help you take a shortcut to happiness.

All the hard work, all the time and energy that goes into making money and achievement can leave you feeling unhappy and unfulfilled.

This is something a lot of high achieving entrepreneurs struggle with. They struggle with being content. And probably struggle with happiness on a daily basis.

Many of us fall into the "if/then" complex and that only becomes a life-draining cycle that is hard to break from.

Here is a simple hack to go STRAIGHT to increased happiness.

We just wrapped up CarrotCamp Spring 2018 and I'm still amped up. It was a few spectacular days and I really want to, again, thank those who took the time to join us!

On this CarrotCast I want to discuss a breakthrough that three of us at camp had during a lunch about passion and fun.

A lot of entrepreneurs struggle with this because business is the passion and fun. But that can drain your energy, leaving feelings of dissatisfaction.

If you're struggling to find passion and build a business around what motivates you, you need to take this simple concept and run with it.

Listen in, get that fire in your belly, and hit us up with your comments about passion and building a business that satisfies your mission in life.

CarrotCamp Spring 2018 was again unlike most events. It was an opportunity for campers to immerse themselves with the knowledge of some of the nations' largest home buyers. It wasn’t a workshop or seminar, nor was it a retreat.

This was a time to strategize as well as brainstorm with some high, high-level investors.

We also took the time to unwind while hiking to area waterfalls as well as a mountain biking excursion.

Camper then got the opportunity to work one-on-one with our team to get massive things done to uplevel marketing… all the while building relationships with other high-level real estate entrepreneurs that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Thank you Spring 2018 CarrotCampers!

I've had some unique opportunities to learn from some highly successful entrepreneurs over the past month. One of the common themes that I've noticed has been how they choose to interact with family, friends, and colleagues.

Entrepreneurs are naturally guilty to push go-go-go and more-more-more onto others. But those others might be happy with their current situation.

Learn how these leaders talk with people to inspire and motivate rather than push thoughts upon them.

It's actually changed my mindset and how I'm going to interact with people going forward.

Both powerful and simple. Enjoy!

This is our 100th CarrotCast!

In the beginning, I didn't even want to start a podcast. I thought it would be too difficult and daunting trying to provide consistently valuable content to my audience. I thought it would take more time than it's worth.

And yet, here we are. :slightly_smiling_face:

I'm glad I started because I would never have made it to episode 100 if I hadn't done episode 1 or 3 or 5 or 50. In other words, life is a journey, business is a journey, and podcasts are a journey. Whatever you've started or dream of starting, this episode is dedicated to you, as a reminder to start and stick with it until it's finished.

As they say, "Nothing ever finished that wasn't started" and "It ain't done til it's done."

So here's to the start of many things and the continuation of many more. Listen to find out what I've learned along my four-year journey at Carrot.

It's been a wild ride.

And seriously, thanks for listening. You make this CarrotCast podcast worth doing.

I'm driving in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona right now recording the intro for this podcast. I'm down here for 10 days with my family on vacation and I also fit in a day of work as well.

If you guys go back to the episode that I recorded that is called Planting Seeds, that's something that I'm always doing.

That's one of the biggest things I can attribute any success I've had is to planting seeds with people. You know I see a lot of opportunities, a lot of potential in someone or working with someone and even if I think it's completely out of reach for that person to work with me or for them to change what they're doing, or I just have no clue how we're going to work together but I know that there's a quality person that wants to. I plant seeds in a very specific way.

It's turned into business partnerships, it's turned into amazing things.  Now we're nearing episode 100 and I'm crazy about that milestone. Of hitting 100 podcasts because when we launched the Carrot Cast, I didn't know what it was going to be. I didn't know if it was going to be, you know, 20 episodes, 25 episodes or if we were going to stop at 50, 100, 1000, I don't know. And I still don't know when and where this podcast is going to go specifically.

But what I do know is we're going to continue to deliver things that inspire you. Continue to do, deliver things to help you be a better entrepreneur. To help you get more freedom, flexibility, grow your finances so you can have more impact in this world. And, today's podcast episode is a recording actually from one of our clients, but also an amazing investor and agent Connor Steinbrook from his podcast.

I've been on Connor's podcast a couple times and the first time it was on the investing side of things and this time it was on the agent side of things. He's growing a really, really, really fast agency right now with EXP Reality and it's just amazing what he's doing in his business, it's amazing that so many of our other clients are doing on the agent side in addition to the investment side. So he interviews me about how agents can leverage Carrot, and how agents can leverage content on the web to grow their businesses better. So hopefully you pick up a couple tips here if you are an agent and you have your license.

We have some really cool case studies coming up with other clients that are crushing on the investor side of things as well as crushing on the agent side of things. So keep an eye out for those as. Have an amazing time listening to this episode if you are an agent!

If you go back to CarrotCast Episode 66, it was called My Struggles and Eight Success Lessons Learned, I talk about a book that I read that really changed my life during the early years, it's called The Go-Giver. And The Go-Giver was a parable. It's a book that really got my mind wrapped around how to actually go out there and live life the opposite way that most people do.

And if you guys have not got the book The Go-Giver, go get it. Go to Amazon, and go get it. Or, you can wait for this call and actually listen to the author of The Go-Giver, Bob Burg. I had such an amazing chance to interview him, one of my favorite books of all time, it's one of the simplest books ever but I've given away hundreds of copies of this book over the years to people because it's such a simple concept but it's so life-changing when you actually adopt it in your day-to-day.

We've adopted it fully here at Carrot as a business. We've always lead with giving, we've always lead with value. We've always really lead with, how do we make sure our clients and our market and your audience are the ones winning?

And when that happens, we'll build trust, we'll build so much value that will, in the end, win, also. So I'm really excited for you guys to listen to this episode of the CarrotCast with Go-Giver author Bob Burg.

He's going to be talking about their latest book, which is the Go-Giver Influencer. It's another parable, but talks about how in this cluttered market, how in this cluttered world, with all of these messages, with all of these opinions, with all of these people who disagree on this and disagree on that, how can you be an influencer in a good way?

He also gives away so many other amazing tips in this call.
